A flea market held every Sunday morning in the car park behind the shopping strip in the Melbourne suburb of Camberwell is immensely popular with collectors and scavengers alike. Hundreds of stalls selling everything from antiques, bric a brac, books, collectibles, crafts, artworks, jewellery, designer, vintage/retro gear, and secondhand clothes, shoes…….and almost anything else you can think of, and much you wouldn’t. Everything from a dish to a digeridoo.
When and Where
About 20 minutes east of the city, roughly a fifteen-minute train ride, and then a short walk from station brings you to one of the best markets to be found anywhere. .
It is conducted by the Rotary Club of Balwyn, as a means of raising funds for a wide range of charities. It has raised almost nine million dollars for the community since 1976. You will be asked for a gold coin donation at the entrance by a one of many men wearing bibs.
