Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula is a classic of modern literature that has elicited chills from its countless readers. The novel inspired the complete vampire genre through art, film and literature. The romanticized vision of the vampire as seducer and blood sucker has sent ripples of terror through the masses for decades.

Classic examples of the vampire can be seen in the early novels of Anne Rice, and was classically portrayed by Bella Lugosi, who was the first in a series of blood-sucking movie vampires. Throughout the years the Dracula mythos has grown as has the passion for the vampire genre in literature and film.

Stoker’s classic vampire Dracula was inspired by the vicious Romanian warlord Prince Vlad the Impaler. Prince Vlad was known for his viciousness and cruelty as he terrorized Central Romania. His medieval Bran Castle sits perched on the cliffs near Brasov casting its ominous specter over the mountainous terrain.
